I've been a farmer for over 65 years. Though I've grown practically every
crop possible, it wasn't until 1945 when I started growing strawberries. I
sharecropped strawberries up until the late 1950's when I was then able to
get a well drilled on my own land.
Being a small farmer has been very rewarding in many ways and I have no
regrets. I have especially enjoyed growing strawberries. Within the past 15
years I became interested in farming naturally without the use of synthetic
fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides. Because I grow strawberries on a
small scale, I have been able to experiment with natural growing means, and
I am very content with the results. Healthy living and maintaining a
healthy environment is important to me.
